Our First Wedding!!

Our first ever wedding at The Cowshed took place on March 21st and what a day it was!

“We organised and put it all together as a family which was a HUGE task but SOOO worth it in the end. Our family so was amazing, they helped us all the way through to get everything done”

Our celebrant Teearn from Teearn & Co was just a gorgeous person, we had so many complements on how she brought the ceremony to life. We’d absolutely recommend her.

Our family pulled together desserts, interim platters and seating. Holly’s dad is a whiz on the chainsaw - A HUGE plus for our viking theme! He pulled a few big logs out of a pile that had been cut down some years before and made our beautifully rustic double ‘King & Queen’ seat for the reception, log seats for an outdoor area that was then wrapped in seed lights.

All of the photos were taken either on The Cowshed property or a 2 minute drive from the property in the Karangahake gorge. It made it super easy and less time consuming! “We would definitely recommend having photos before your ceremony if you were into it. Something we didn’t do but if we had, it would have given us more time to spend with guests and EAT!”

“Clean up was brutal HAHA but again, those who stayed to help were a god send!”

We’re a DIY family, so someone else organising everything for us definitely wasn’t an option. Cost wise, we could have saved a lot more but you only do it once right!?.. Well maybe more but Hey!

Some tips.. Buy second hand, it makes no difference on the day! Have a smaller guest list, ask friends and family to bring a plate as a gift so you don’t have catering costs and the most important ASK FOR HELP! People generally want to help you so LET THEM!

Even more important, have fun! It’s one for the rest of your life. Don’t stress, just love and make memories <3
